Commercial Operations Scientist (Scientific Writer)

In response to significant growth in customer enquiries, Metrion is seeking candidates with a
strong background in ion channel drug discovery research who are looking to move into a
commercially focused role to support our global business development and marketing team
and the scientific operations team, based in Cambridge, UK. The role will join our Client Services
team and responsibilities will involve creation of customer proposals and assisting in the
creation of high-quality scientific content for publication and marketing purposes.
The role will be permanent and will be based at our Granta Park headquarters (Cambridge,
UK).

Duties to include the following:

Provision of support to Metrion’s commercial and laboratory operations teams. To
include:

• Establishing client requirements via liaison with Metrion scientists and business
  development colleagues, attendance at virtual and face to face client meetings;
• The creation of formal proposals to defined turnaround timelines, proposals to
  include detailed, accurately costed, high-quality work plans;
• Liaison with Metrion’s laboratory operations managers and scientists to ensure all
  proposals fully address client requirements, are of the highest scientific quality with
  suitable resources allocated;
• Creation of accurate documentation of the required resources and timelines for
  all client proposals to enable resource planning and cost control; and
• Assist in the creation of high-quality case studies, white papers and posters for use
  at scientific meetings and for marketing purposes.

Essential Skills/ Qualifications:

• BSc, MSc or PhD in biology or chemistry.
• Extensive technical understanding of ion channel biology and drug discovery research.
• Familiarity with manual patch clamp electrophysiology, automated electrophysiology,
  fluorescence-based screening techniques and preclinical drug discovery.
• Prior experience of creating technical documents would be highly advantageous,
• although training will be available for candidates with a particularly strong ion channel
• background moving to their first commercial role.
• • The successful applicant will be a proven team worker with first class attention to detail,
• strong interpersonal, presentation, time management, organisational and excellent
• English written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Metrion staff and client personnel at all levels.

Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience of working for a preclinical contract research organisation
  (CRO) would be advantageous.
• Previous experience in a customer facing role.
• Experience of organising webinars, conferences and marketing campaigns.
• Familiarity with WordPress and managing online content.
