Gary has over 20 years of ion channel Drug Discovery experience with 14 years in the contract research arena. Gary’s interest in ion channels started during his degree at Royal Holloway University of London where he performed sharp micro-electrode recordings from leech ganglia which lead him to a PhD in cardiac electrophysiology at Coventry University.
Following his PhD, Gary worked at several Biotech companies where he was closely involved in the early development of automated patch-clamp technologies. Then moving to take a Team Leader position at BioFocus (Charles River) in 2005 where he implemented and established automated electrophysiology for their contract research services.
Whilst at BioFocus and latterly, Charles River, Gary lead multiple client ion channel projects where assay development, cell line generation, high throughput screening and hit-to-lead/lead optimisation were required.
