Metrion is currently seeking candidates with a strong background in ion channel drug
discovery research who are looking to move into a commercially focused role supporting our
global business development team and scientific operations team based in Cambridge, UK.
The role will be permanent and based at our Granta Park headquarters (Cambridge, UK).
There may be flexibility for part time and home office based working for suitable candidates;
candidates living outside the UK will be considered, although sufficient overlap with UK working
hours (09.00 – 17.30) and some travel to Metrion’s headquarters will be required

Commercial Operations Scientist (Proposal Writer)

Duties will include or require the following: 


• Provision of support to Metrion’s commercial and laboratory operations teams. To
include:
o establishing client requirements via liaison with Metrion scientists and business
development colleagues, attendance at virtual and face to face client
meetings;
o the creation of formal proposals to tight turnaround timelines, proposals to
include detailed, accurately costed, high-quality work plans;
o liaison with Metrion’s laboratory operations managers and scientists to ensure
all proposals are of the highest scientific quality, with suitable resources
allocated; and
o accurate documentation of the required resources and timelines for all client
proposals to enable resource planning and cost control.
• Adopting and adhering to Metrion’s company values, ensuring that Metrion maintains
a cooperative and supportive team environment.


Essential Qualifications and Skills:
• BSc, MSc or PhD in biology or chemistry.
• Extensive technical understanding of ion channel biology and drug discovery research.
• Familiarity with manual patch clamp electrophysiology, automated electrophysiology
and fluorescence-based screening techniques.

• Prior experience of creating technical documents would be highly advantageous,
although training will be available for candidates with a particularly strong ion channel
background moving to their first commercial role.
• The successful applicant will be a proven team worker with first class attention to detail,
strong interpersonal, presentation, time management, organisational and excellent
English written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Metrion staff and client personnel at all levels

Desirable Skills:
• Previous experience of working for a preclinical contract research organisation
(CRO) would be advantageous.
• Previous experience in a customer facing role.
• Experience of organising webinars, conferences and marketing campaigns.
